Graham, Bruce, Marci descend skylight entrance and use the boat to cross the pool at the bottom of the pitch and explore the SW passage. With limited ropes, a traverse along difficult mud slopes in the upper part of the passage is soon abandoned. A pitch back down to water level proves fruitless.

Re-crossed the pool to the other side and finished surveying the major NE leads before de-rigging the entrance pitches.

Jianshi

The Jianshi team (Tony H, Eddie, John W) explored and surveyed Xian Yen Dong (Magic Person’s Cave) near the hamlet of Tang Ping, which lies to the north of Hua Ping in Jianshi County. On the return journey to Jianshi town, the team had the opportunity to explore the quaint town of Hua Ping, a centre of the Tujia minority people.
